Hyundai Creta 2024: Hyundai has taken the wraps off the facelifted 2024 Creta compact SUV, showcasing a dramatic new exterior design and interior upgrades. Scheduled to launch in India on January 16th, the refreshed Creta features major styling changes front and rear aimed at giving it a bolder, more modern personality.
Leading the updates is an all-new front grille echoing the rectangular shape first seen on the Hyundai Venue. Flanked by triangle-shaped LED daytime running lights embedded into a full-width lighting strip, the grille introduces a rugged boldness not seen in the previous Creta. The headlamps have also been fully redesigned with a squared-off shape unlike the outgoing model’s split-headlamp layout.
Changes continue at the rear, where new LED tail lamps mimick the front light signature and connect via a light bar stretching across the tailgate. The rear bumper has also been reprofiled to incorporate chunky silver skid plates for increased toughness. Fresh 17-inch alloy wheel designs round out the exterior changes.
Inside, the cabin has undergone a comprehensive redesign centered around a new dual-display dashboard paying homage to the similar layout in the updated Kia Seltos. Ambient lighting makes its first appearance on the Creta, bathing the redesigned center console and doors in a gentle glow. An open storage space sits below the passenger-side dash, surrounded by a piano black finish panel housing the AC vent.
The latest technology additions come in the form of a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, and debuting advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Other cabins upgrades include dual-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, and ventilated front seats. The panoramic sunroof has been retained from the outgoing model.
Powertrain options continue to offer variety, with naturally aspirated petrol and diesel engines carrying over from before. Joining them is a punchy new 1.5-liter turbo-petrol from the Hyundai Verna putting out 160hp, paired solely to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Safety has also been enhanced, with all variants now receiving at least six airbags along with standard equipment such as rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and hill-start assist. Higher trims add extras like tire pressure monitoring and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert.
Pricing and complete trim details for the 2024 Creta are reserved for the unveiling event on January 16th. But expectations peg the updated model to start around Rs 11 lakh, costing slightly more than the current Creta’s base variants.
As before, the Creta will fight for sales in India’s competitive compact SUV space against long-time rival, the Kia Seltos, along with newer threats like the feature-packed Maruti Grand Vitara.
